Sunsets are beautiful. Every sunset is different, yet each one feels magical. My favourite sunsets are when bursts of gold meet shades of red and orange, and the sky altogether looks like it was painted by an artist. Sunsets are proof that endings can be beautiful too.
Sometimes, ending something and starting over is the best thing to do. We don’t get to press a reset button when something goes wrong, but we do get to start over. Starting over doesn’t mean you have to leave everything behind. It means you are giving yourself another chance to do better.
I know that it hurts to let go, but holding on might be hurting you more. I’ve realised that we do eventually move on from things that once felt like they would last forever. At the end of the day, everyone wants someone who chooses them over everyone else, no matter what.
You might feel like something is worth holding on to, but if it’s causing you pain right now, can you really say it’s worth it?
When someone isn’t there for me when I really need them, I tend to give them excuses. I tell myself they’re probably busy or that something important came up. But the sad truth is, if somebody wants to be there for you, they will figure out a way to be there. Maybe not on time, but they will make up for it.
I’ve also realised that you can’t hold on to something that doesn’t want to stay. Starting over doesn’t mean you gave up or that you’re not strong enough. It means you’ve realised you’ve had enough.
Some people will be difficult to replace, but it’s important to recognise when it’s necessary to let them go, even if you don’t want to. If someone is meant to stay, they will stay—no matter where you go or what you do.
When you think you deserve better, trust yourself. You do deserve better.
Sometimes, ending something is for the best. And endings can be beautiful too.
